BIMM Students Go Behind the Scenes at Brighton & Hove Pride 2025
Fourteen BIMM students had the rare opportunity to work behind the scenes at one of the UK’s biggest and most celebrated festivals – Brighton & Hove Pride 2025.
Thanks to a collaboration with WMA, an award-winning global digital marketing and creative agency, students joined the team in the official Press Tent at Pride On The Park. Their role? To create, capture, and deliver real-time content for Brighton Pride’s official social media channels.
Armed with all-access passes, the students worked in the photo pit alongside professional photographers, stepped backstage with headline artists, and soaked up the electric atmosphere of the festival.
The weekend’s line-up was nothing short of legendary, featuring Mariah Carey, Sugababes, Fatboy Slim, Confidence Man, Will Young, Slayyyter, Natalie Imbruglia, and many more.
Many students discovered the opportunity via BIMM Connect, including Music Business and Event Management student Tessa Carlisle, who said:
“It’s been great to get live feedback on my shots and build contacts with WMA – I’m hoping to apply for an internship with them in the future.”
For Maxim Pinchuk, a Songwriting graduate, the weekend was invaluable for building industry credibility:
“It’s really important to show potential employers you’ve already worked on large-scale events. The communication and technical skills you gain here are exactly what’s needed in media roles.”
Current second-year Music Business and Event Management student Libby Stubbs added:
“The connections I’ve made are amazing. It’s taught me so much about how festivals operate and how social media content gets published so quickly.”
From the pit during Fatboy Slim to catching Mariah Carey’s headline set, students also had their own personal highlights. For MA Popular Music Practice student Izzy, the magic was in the crowd:
“Being right in front of the stage and turning around to see everyone dancing and smiling – it’s so inclusive here, just pure good vibes.”
Beyond capturing the magic for social media, the event offered invaluable networking opportunities and first-hand experience in a fast-paced, high-profile live environment – the perfect platform for our students to sharpen their creative and professional skills.
Brighton & Hove Pride is recognised as one of the world’s premier Pride celebrations, and this year our students were right at the heart of the action, building connections and receiving real industry experience.
